The patrol division is the primary function of any police department. The patrols are responsible for every street within our
borough and under contract to patrol the northern section for the Borough of Teterboro. Even though there are few residents our section is
mainly industry that requires a great deal of attention. The Little Ferry police department responds to 20-25 thousand calls a year and is on
patrol 24-7-365. Each squad consists of four officers with one being the tour commander that could be either a Lieutenant or Sergeant and one
civilian police dispatcher. The officers work a schedule that rotates evey week with the hours of 2:30 PM to 10:30 PM, 10:30 PM to 6:30 AM, and
6:30 AM to 2:30 PM. The patrol officers respond to all incidents that include medical emergencies, burglar, fire and hold-up alarms.
Additional duties that the patrol is responsible for include traffic enforcement, investigating traffic accidents, domestic disputes and any
other request from the residents. The following officers are the tour commanders: Lt. Mike Derwin, Retired Sgt. Mike Walsh, Lt. Scott Kral, Sgt. Dave
Berens and Sgt. Joseph Gutierrez. The patrol division is the backbone of any police department and on many calls the officers never know what
to expect. The patrol officer is the most visible and often must make an immediate decision that can be a matter of life or death. Please
